What is drawdio?
Drawdio is a mechanism that makes noises when you hold it and touch the pencil to graphite and then touch your finger to the graphite. It is comprised of a speaker, wires, Capacitors, Resistors, and a 555 timer. Drawdio can make a variety of noises depending on the number of coils wrapped around the pencil; changing the distance between your finger and the pencil. Why did I choose to make drawdio? I chose to create drawdio because it seemed interesting and a cute knickknack to show off to friends and family. I also chose this project specifically because it had to do with sound. I personally didn't want to do another "light" project and thought "sound would be an interesting topic to tinker with. What am I proud of? I am proud that I understand how to actually translate a schematic into a circuit. I'm also proud of the knowledge I have gained on how electronics work and the components that comprise them. What did I have trouble with? When I started I didn't know where to solder anything, and it was looking super clumpy so then I went back in and fixed some of the solder joints. Also when watching the instructional video I was confused on where to actually lay the wire and how to solder it to the wire. I eventually figured it out but that was definitely a challenge. Also prior to soldering anything down I was just laying the parts in the holes of the perf-board. The legs of the parts got all tangled up and made it hard to decipher one part from another |
